An opportunity for a Fresh Produce Quality Assurance Technician, working within the Quality Assurance team, has become available within the Corporate Buying department of ALDI Stores, based in Minchinbury.

What we are looking for:

This position is technical, challenging and impacts directly on the success of ALDI's fresh produce range. The successful candidate will have strong and effective communication skills, both verbal and written being an interface between technical and non-technical buying functions. Along with experience in fresh produce quality assurance and product development.

Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Degree or Diploma in Food Science with retail/manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in development of product specifications for fresh produce products.
  • Experience in performing quality control testing of fresh produce products including packaging assessments.
  • Knowledge of relevant Australian regulations.
  • Experience in label compliance.
  • Knowledge of sensory evaluation techniques.
  • Have a strong understanding of accredited chemical and microbiological laboratories.
  • Ability to communicate with Regulatory Agencies for non-conformances.
  • Ability to adapt communication style for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experienced in technical investigation and report writing.

Your responsibilities: 

  • Work with the Buying team, Quality Assurance team, suppliers and technical service providers to develop finished product specifications.
  • Facilitate product compliance testing including external and internal testing.
  • Coordinate quality assurance projects.
  • Provide technical consultancy to the wider Buying team.
  • Liaise with the Customer Service Department on complaint trends.
  • Communicate with Regulators on product complaints and recalls.
  • Communicate with Industry and Government bodies.

This role reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.
