A new opportunity for a National Quality Control (QC) Manager (Fresh Range) has become available within the National Buying Department of ALDI Stores, based in Minchinbury. This is a permanent full-time position.

 

This role is responsible for providing technical guidance and support to key stakeholders, in order to define the technical Quality Assessment of fresh produce and other fresh categories received into Distribution Centres. With the aim of streamlining processes across national and regional departments, you will develop, implement and manage quality control systems and processes that will improve the food safety, quality and consumer satisfaction of all fresh products.

 

What we are looking for:

The successful candidate will be an experienced leader and subject matter expert in fresh produce, with a focus on quality control. You will be a confident self-starter capable of managing multiple stakeholders, in order to effectively align decision making to support the needs of both regional and buying departments. 

 

Selection Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification in Agronomy, Food Science, Biology or Microbiology preferred
  • 8+ years’ experience in fresh produce and/or other fresh categories
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership position essential
  • Experience within retail industry highly regarded
  • Knowledge of Australian food standards and legislation, quality principles, GMP, HACCP, HARPS and GFSIAustr
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and manage quality and compliance risks
  • Strong understanding of quality systems and produce software systems
  • Experience auditing suppliers/vendors and food safety programs highly desirable
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage key stakeholders
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to adapt to high stress situations  
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and delivering training material

Role responsibilities:

  • Work with QC Team Leaders to ensure process consistency across national and regional departments  
  • Streamline QC inspection systems, ensuring compliance with guidelines and regulations
  • Ensure QC KPIs are met, monitor supplier performance and update respective stakeholders
  • Liaise with key stakeholders regarding the Fresh Product QC System and QC Inspection Application queries
  • Recommend and implement QC System improvements and Product Specification (QAS) updates
  • Provide technical quality, market and other relevant updates
  • Coordinate and deliver training to QC teams
  • Manage and monitor Supplier Corrective Actions, identify risk areas and action accordingly
  • Evaluate, review and present QC assessment/investigation findings and escalate where necessary

  

This role reports to the Quality Assurance Director.
