We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to lead our national payroll team to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of payroll services to over 14,000 employees.  This role is pivotal in the continuous improvement of our payroll systems and processes. Reporting to the Payroll Director this role is located in our National Head Office in Minchinbury, Western Sydney.

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing all aspects of the payroll function to ensure payroll is processed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Coordinating, directing and controlling the processing and administration of the payroll function including sign off on all payroll related matters such as superannuation, taxation, payroll tax, and compliance
  • Establishing a culture of high performance, professionalism, collaboration and continuous improvement that identifies opportunities and solutions to improve service delivery
  • Ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data and information, processing and reporting
  • Examining and providing insights of payroll data and people metrics
  • Overseeing the maintenance, configuration and testing of payroll systems to satisfy business requests for fixes, changes, enhancements and compliance
  • Managing all payroll system vendor relationships and tracking vendor performance against agreed service levels
  • Developing and maintaining up-to-date payroll system documentation, standard operating procedures and liaising with the Academy team to design system training where required
  • Establishing a strategy and roadmap for the optimisation of payroll systems and processes with a focus on driving automation and integration to provide business efficiencies and a seamless user experience
  • Monitoring policy and legislative changes impacting payroll and ensuring compliance in areas relating to payroll laws
  • Supporting the ongoing review of remuneration and benefits
  • Developing strong relationships with key stakeholders (both internal and external) to build a centre of excellence within the area of payroll services
  • Providing direction and mentoring to a fast paced, high performing payroll team

What we’re looking for?

  • 5+ years previous Payroll Manager experience in managing a large, complex payroll environment
  • Expert in payroll systems, processes and associated legislation in all Australian states
  • Strong people leadership skills with demonstrated experience in motivating and engaging staff to create a positive, committed and productive team environment
  • Exceptional stakeholder collaboration and management skills and confidence to work with all levels within the organisation
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management and logical skills
  • Experience with Chris21/iCHRIS and KRONOS/Blue Yonder would be highly regarded

*Includes superannuation and is dependent on ALDI experience.
