An exciting opportunity exists to join ALDI Australia’s Corporate Procurement department. The department  is responsible for managing and supporting all of ALDI’s Indirect Procurement activities throughout the business with a view to drive value from supplier relationships, control risks and reduce costs. This includes Indirect categories such as: Logistics, Contingent Labor, Property, Construction, Travel, Fleet, Operational Supplies & Equipment, Facilities Maintenance & Electricity.


The Procurement Assistants support the Procurement Manager by:

  • Assisting the development of category management strategies (supplier administration, category as-is and spend analysis, strategy development)
  • Assisting with external sourcing and RFP exercises (eg. scoping and creation of tender packs, coordinating communications with suppliers, evaluating tender responses)
  • Assisting with supplier relationship management activities (contract reviews, quarterly business reviews)

As a Procurement Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the Procurement Manager and stakeholders across Regional and Corporate departments. You will assist in the development and execution of category management plans to maximise value from supplier engagements. This will include but not be limited to assisting with contract and supplier administration and working collaboratively across a wide range of projects. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, well organised, a great communicator and comfortable with challenging situations.

*Salary includes superannuation. Remuneration varies depending on location and ALDI experience.

You will be responsible for: 

  • Coordinating the flow of information from internal and external stakeholders
  • Administering the tendering and contract process
  • Supplier sourcing and vetting
  • Maintaining a national contracts database
  • Assisting Procurement Managers with developing and executing category management plans
  • Checking of ordering and invoice data against contracts
  • Developing policy and procedure documents
  • Liaising with external lawyers and consultants


Essential Criteria; 

  • Proven organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure across multiple projects
  • A strong record of being self-driven and demonstrating initiative
  • A team player, able to work with a range of stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Professional and polite communication style
  • Intermediate to Advanced experience using Microsoft Office
  • Confident using varied software systems and platforms
  • Results and solutions orientated
  • Strong commercial and legal awareness

The Procurement Assistant reports to the Procurement Manager and communicates directly to other Assistants, Regional Departments and external parties. The Procurement Assistant will work collaboratively with the entire team on a wide range of Indirect Procurement categories and projects.
