Join our dynamic and rapidly expanding team at ALDI Australia as a Packaging Technologist within our fast-growing Sustainability team. This is a full-time permanent position, based in Minchinbury.
This pivotal role will see you contributing to Aldi’s packaging improvement commitments by designing packaging solutions that have a significant positive sustainable impact. You will be a vital part of the team who are reshaping the future of packaging in the retail industry.

What does the role look like?
- Drive the implementation of ALDI Australia’s Plastics & Packaging commitments, with specific focus on improving recyclability, material reduction and recycled content inclusion
- Lead projects with buying teams and product suppliers to drive the implementation of sustainable packaging across key product categories
- Develop business cases for packaging improvements that include technical, commercial and sustainability considerations
- Consult to internal projects with technical packaging expertise and insights.
- Develop packaging specifications for ALDI-branded products
- Consult as the subject matter expert on all questions concerning recyclability
- Build relationships with packaging providers to identify new packaging formats to drive cost saving and sustainability targets
- Lease with the international ALDI Packaging Team to develop and maintain knowledge of global packaging trends to drive innovation locally
- A passion for sustainability and knowledge of recycling principles
- Demonstrated experience in packaging design and optimisation (ideally in FMCG)
- Technical expert with deep knowledge of packaging materials and applications, especially plastics
- Excellent communicator and an ability to convey technical information to both internal and external stakeholders
- A self-motivated change advocate. Able to influence others and build impactful networks
- Well-developed project management skills
- Comfortable analysing large sets of data and visualising results
- Working knowledge of PREP is desirable
- Degree qualified either in a Science or Engineering discipline desirable
- Transparent tiered salary range of $134,500 - $153,400 including super
