Grow your career with a global retailer as a Waste Specialist within our Sustainability team at ALDI Australia, based in Minchinbury. This is a full-time permanent position.
In this role, you will join a passionate team that supports ALDI's commitment to a more sustainable future. Our Sustainability team works diligently across the breadth of our operations, setting sustainability commitments and policies in critical areas such as human rights, responsible sourcing, plastics and packaging, waste and carbon, health, and community.
The magnitude of our efforts extends beyond merely setting targets; we also bear the responsibility for reporting on all ALDI’s sustainability commitments to both the Australian and International business sectors. It's about translating our dedication to people and planet into concrete actions that align with our business objectives, shaping a more sustainable future for all.

What does the role look like?
- Support the design and implementation of food and operational waste reduction and diversion programs across multiple waste streams and asset types.
- Conduct reviews and provide process improvement recommendations on processes across ALDI’s operational departments
- Support development and implementation of staff engagement and behaviour change programs to support improved waste outcomes.
- Build internal capability, systems, and processes to support a growing animal feed food rescue program in stores
- Support the monitoring, development and implementation of legislative and organisational policies, guidelines, and processes to ensure compliance.
What do we need from you?
- Demonstrated passion for waste, recycling, and environmental/sustainability issues
- Previous experience identifying risks and implementing projects in an operational environment (waste in a retail environment highly regarded)
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to provide resolutions on time and within budget
- Strong administration, organisation and planning skills
- Experience working within FMCG is highly regarded
- Well-developed relationship management skills with proven ability to build rapport and strong relationships with multiple stakeholders at varying levels
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to a deadline
- Ability to take on responsibility and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
