Funky Corner Stores start to roll out in two states
More of our popular funky grab-and-go Corner Stores will soon start rolling out in two states.
Following the successful first grand opening at North Sydney, a further five inner city locations in Sydney and Melbourne will soon have their own on-the-go-style ALDI to call their own.
The Corner Stores have everything our busy customers need including the convenience range, extended drinks, an artisan bakery inclusive of package-free single-serve bread and that vibrant colourful interior. They also have self-serve checkouts and there are future plans to include the wildly popular Pizza Bot in all Corner Stores.
A new Corner Store in Melbourne’s CBD, which opens tomorrow, is the third to start trading across the country.
The Corner Store has been created to bring a curated ALDI experience to urban customers and will provide unrivalled convenience to Melbourne shoppers.
The store also has a tribute to Melbourne’s renowned artistic community, with a commissioned mural from acclaimed Melbourne artist George Rose, who has brought to life her trademark blend of vibrant colours and abstract strokes to create a captivating in-store installation.
The new Corner Stores, in NSW and Victoria, have all been chosen as future sites because they are in high-density urban areas where convenience is desired, making them perfect for commuters and residents needing freshly-baked goods and lunch on the run.
The Darlinghurst store, which was reopened last month, was converted from the traditional format to a Corner Store to be better suited to the area. The store’s vibrant artwork incorporates rainbow elements to pay homage to their area’s LGBTQA+ community.
Huw Longman, Director of the Corner Store Projects says: “ALDI’s Corner Stores have been designed to better meet the needs of our customers in high-density, urban areas. Shopping habits continue to evolve, and we are seeing a large audience of people who prefer shopping more frequently with a hyper-focus on convenience.”
Executive Manager Store Operations, Ailish Robinson, oversaw the grand opening of our North Sydney Corner Store and said customers loved the vibe and location of the store.
“Feedback from our customers has overall been very positive” Ailish Robinson said. “Our customers are of the opinion the Corner Store is relaxed, colourful and friendly. Customers have also commented on how efficient and convenient the self-serve checkout process is.”
